I can remember working on a couple of Mk3 Escorts that were only 4 or 5 years old and several of the wires between the bodywork and hatch had broken, resulting in no rear wiper or heated screen. . Every time the door is opened, the harness bends, and over time it eventually fails. Read this post if you have any of these problems, as they're all related. I suspect this issue must affect a lot of people, because with the wires on both doors of this particular car having broken, a lot of others must have the same issue. Hope this all helps anyone out now,Dave9658,23rd Sept 2012,Thank You. Check inside for any signs of anything getting hot. They did say a few more were looking as though they wouldn't last much longer but felt it would be best to leave them and only deal with them as and when they actually do go. The key is working but not to operate the central locking. The door lock would have been next. In our car the speaker stopped working first, followed by the electric rear window. The fix Our repair kit is a direct replacement for the end of the original harness, and can be crimped or soldered onto the undamaged part of the wiring.
The box had two connectors on which need to be undone with a small screwdriver, and then the two halves of the box can be unclipped. Remove the bellows clamp from your old connector and fit on the new one. To unlock the car you just pull one of the handles and it unlocks automatically. I spoke to a Vauxhall dealer who said that they didn't feel it was a problem specific to the Zafira- 'all cars have this problem over time Sir'. I got it to a local garage and they repaired several of the wires that had gone, soldering and then heat shrinking. That also was showing signs of wires about to break on both doors.
When I went back to get it now all of the doors are locked and the central locking isn't working at all not even the button inside the car, so the boot is also jammed shut, can only access the car with the key in the drivers door. To find out if yours are broken, unplug the plug going into the door, and fully detach and disassemble the black rubber hosing and plug. They told me that there isn't a repair kit, and the entire loom would need replacing. Any of the electrical systems in the rear doors can be affected, including the electric windows, central locking, and audio speakers. After studying the wiring diagram on Tolerence Data I realised that there are 2motors in each door lock mechanism.
Were going to charge £90+vat just to investigate initially. Eventually, the few remaining wires are carrying all the current and they burn up, usually at the connector plug. An hour labour and £59 total cost. Before I get it to the garage does anyone have any ideas? The problem was found to be three things: Both the left and right back doors had broken conductors. I have a Zafira B 56 plate and have a problem with the central locking. It started a few days ago been using the car fine opened the rear passenger door, closed it and all the car dead locked. Then peel the boot open and marvel at Vauxhall's terrible door wire routing.
We have the version with keyless entry, so can lock the car either by pressing the front door handles or using the key fob, we cannot lock it manually with a key. Part of the head lining had to be pulled out the way to access the wiring. This is where the real problems now begin, I told them about removing the door card etc. Goes Positive Pin 6 White. Easy enough to fix, although if the door is stuck locked, then you'll need to remove the interior trim with the door closed to get at it. I'm really desperate this is my family car but can't even get the kids in it. This will save you time and stop the same duplicate posts from appearing.
The repair kit is available from vauxhall for both Astra H and Zafira b models priced at £93 +vat per side!!!. Sun 13 May 2007 16:08 Vauxhall Zafira Central Locking Problem - drew1103 I have a 2001 Vauxhall Zafira 2. It doesn't always happen, but it is getting more and more frequent. If the wires are broken, it should be obvious - pull the conductors and see if you find a broken end. When locking and unlocking the car you can hear the lock making the right noise, but the door remains unlocked. The fuel filler and boot locks always worked, as did the indicators.

I thought that the fault may be in the key, but as I've tried the spare with the same result, i now suspect that the fault may lie in the locking gizmo inside the car. Because this wiring flexes everytime you open the door, it is quite vulnerable to breakage, and so, this would be the first place I would look at with an intermittent central locking fault. To repair the wire you may need to get more wire length by taking the cover off at foot level next to each front seat. He also unplugged something in the rear fuse box but thats back in fine.
