There are some laughs and eye-popping sequences that will have most children in stitches. It didn't take away form the action and adventure, though. The Eternal Hourglass by Erica Kirov is the first of the Magickeepers series. The Eternal Hourglass, the first novel in the Magickeepers series, was a fun read perfectly suited for younger teens. Right away, main character Nick is plucked out of the life he knows with his father and grandfather and placed in this large Russian family that lives and works within the Winter Palace in Las Vegas. Except this time, his grandfather appears on his thirteenth birthday with the offer of a new life, new powers, an extended family he didn't know exists and, of course, new responsibilities. I loved the fact that it was a story about an extended family.
Nyaris sama dengan cerita fantasi lain. Nick hasn't had a real friend in years. His gift is the only way to unravel the mystery of the Eternal Hourglass, a magic artifact so strong it can even stop time. My name is Nick, and my father is the worst magician in the world. His dad is well known as the worst magician in Las Vegas.
He never should have let Houdin get his hands on it. He jumped, quickly moving his head from left to right as if to shake the images from his mind. It has to be Vegas. Click on the link below for posts about more realistic novels. And second, as the adult reader that I am.
Trickery with ether, sleight of hand, and magnets and automatons. You, Nicholai Rostov, have the gift. I've added my own thoughts too, in case you're interested. Good read for both young and old. Nick knows that he is in for the adventure of a lifetime.
Nick has the sight-the ability to see into the past. His gift is the only way to unravel the mystery of the Eternal Hourglass, a magic artifact so strong it can even stop time. I also liked Nick's lessons from learning how to use a crystal ball to switching out Isabella for Sascha those were some great parts of the story for me! On his 13th birthday, though, he awakens on the top floor of the Winter Palace Hotel and Casino only to meet, for the first time, his extended family. He's starting the summer off with a bad report card, and another birthday by himself. Overall, I enjoyed the story and recommend you try it too. I look forward to the next book in the Magickeeper series! For lovers of Harry Potter, this new series by Erica Kirov is sure to be a huge hit. And even so, why would Nick need to change schools if all the hotels were located in or around the Strip? I felt sort of bad for Nick's dad who also worked as a magician at another nearby hotel but he's not very good at what he does.
For lovers of Harry Potter, this new series by Erica Kirov is sure to be a huge hit. En mi opinión el libro es demasiado corto, creo que a la autora le falta imaginación. But the family's enemies will stop at nothing to get it. It's a trick - an illusion. He is told that he is a gazer - a rare and powerful talent from a long family line of magickeepers. Nick balks at first, but finds, when he relaxes a bit, a scene unfolding inside the glass in which an ancient Egyptian man is performing an illusion with swords - or is it? Saat kecil ia merengek agar diijinkan memelihara hewan. A good book filled with powerful, visual language.
His dad is well known as the worst magician in Las Vegas. How Nick reacts or doesn't to suddenly being thrust into a magical lifestyle is another bone of contention. The man in the robes. Except this time, his grandfather appears on his thirteenth birthday with the offer of a new life, new powers, an extended family he didn't know exists and, of course, new responsibilities.
I sure hope he still gets to see his dad and grandpa! All members of the family are powerful magicians, but Nick is unique. However, will Nick be able to discover what that desired object is before it is too late? The review on the book itself is right - if you loved Harry Potter, you'll love this series. What I thought was really clever is that the author takes pieces of history and melds them into this book thus getting readers interested in finding out more about these pieces of history. The Eternal Hourglass did not work for me.
